It has been found that elderly people that have high calorie diets are more prone to mild cognitive impairment (MCI), the memory loss that comes prior to Alzheimer’s disease. Discoveries by the Mayo Clinic show from a group of 1,200 people in their 70s and 80s, men and women who consumed at least 2,143 calories a day had increased odds of having MCI, compared with those who consumed 1,526 calories a day or less. These new findings are scheduled to be released at American Academy of Neurology’s annual meeting in April.
